ZURICH, SWITZERLAND June 20, 2007 – Marakon today announced the addition of Konstantinos G. Apostolatos, former director of Arthur D. Little, as partner in its Zurich office. As a member of the firm’s Continental Europe leadership team, Mr. Apostalatos will help to expand the firm’s growing presence in Europe, with a particular focus on the Benelux region, where he will be based.
Mr. Apostolatos brings 20 years of strategic and operational advisory experience spanning various industrial sectors, including telecoms, high-tech, chemicals, transportation and logistics, consumer goods and others. In his new role, he will advise clients at large multinational companies on issues relating to strategy, growth, productivity and execution.
"Konstantinos joins us with a detailed knowledge of the Benelux market and an unbeatable track record for demonstrating client impact," said Brian Burwell, Marakon’s chief executive.
Mike Baxter, Regional Managing Partner for Continental Europe, added: "The arrival of Mr. Apostolatos signals Marakon’s continued commitment to expand its practice in the region. We welcome him as a valued member of our leadership team."
The strategy consultancy, which has been serving European clients for 20 years, established its first office on the Continent in Zurich last October to better meet the needs of existing clients and to provide a platform for new business growth. The firm’s publicly-known clients (past and present) include Alcan, Barclays, BP, Cadbury Schweppes, Diageo, Gillette and Roche.
"Marakon brings a unique value proposition to its clients – one that places impact above all else." Mr. Apostolatos said. "I look forward to bringing that promise to companies across the Continent."
Prior to his work at Arthur D. Little, Mr. Apostolatos served as vice president of strategic consulting at Gemini Consulting and as a principal at AT Kearney. He also founded his own technology incubator and taught as a visiting professor of Strategic Management at Erasmus University’s Rotterdam-Rotterdam School of Management. A prolific writer, he has published on a wide array of management topics (e.g. strategy, growth and innovation) and written in-depth industry reports. Mr. Apostolatos is fluent in English, Dutch, Greek, French and German and conversational in Spanish, Italian and Danish. He holds a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s of Management Science from Boston University.
