April 12, 2000 - Marakon Associates, a leading consultant to top management of some of the world’s largest and most successful companies, has named three new managing partners. The three new appointees are:

M. Scott Gillis joined Marakon in 1988 and has advised chief executives and top management of some of the world largest financial services, consumer products and pharmaceutical companies. Gillis managed the firm’s East Coast office and currently leads the firm’s worldwide marketing awareness efforts. "Scott’s relentless pursuit of satisfying clients’ needs has endeared him to top executives who continually demonstrate loyalty to Scott and to the firm," said Peter W. Kontes, Marakon’s chief executive, in making the managing partnership announcement.

Michael Mankins, partner in charge of Marakon’s San Francisco office. A 13-year veteran with the firm, Mankins has led corporate-wide programs to improve shareholder returns of companies in the chemical, financial services, consumer product, natural resources and diversified manufacturing industries. He was instrumental in re-establishing the firm’s West Coast branch in San Francisco in 1998. "Michael’s exceptional intellectual talents and thorough command of our practice have allowed him to successfully establish and lead significant client relationships," said Kontes.

Herman Spruit, partner in charge of Marakon’s European marketing effort. Spruit joined the firm in 1989 as part of the team that established Marakon’s London office, and has since led the firm’s relationships with leading companies in the UK and Europe. "Herman has been a tremendous contributor to our growth and development in the UK, almost since day one," said Kontes.
