John Sunderland, chairman of the Confederation of British Industry and Cadbury Schweppes, is adding his weight to the advisory board at Marakon, the consultancy.

He will advise the firm on strategy, practice and growth opportunities, joining fellow advisers such as Sir Brian Pitman, former chairman and chief executive of Lloyds TSB, Sir George Bull, former J Sainsbury and Diageo chairman, and Frank Zarb, chairman of Nasdaq Europe.

"As a long-time client, he understands our work in advising CEOs and their teams on the tough choices they have to make to win in their industries," said Ken Favaro, chief executive.
